Need a kindle reader to buy kindle books?

I was browsing the bookstore Amazon and came across "Metro 2033" in English. I've been looking for this for a while, but in the Amazon store there that the switch version. I have not a Kindle, and I will spend $ 350 + for example. My real question is, do I have to buy a reader to read the ebooks I can download off Amazon?
